Officine Panerai Watches
Modern, Catching, Bold, BIG Luxury Watches
When Giovanni Panerai founded Officine Panerai Watches as a tiny watch shop in Florence Italy in 1860, he did not in his wildest dreams imagine that those humble beginnings would be the start of a worldwide takeover of Haute horology- big time. Introducing Panerai Watches, the jewel of Italian watchmaking.
Panerai Watches – The ultimate sea-farer.
Panerai watches have been built for the ocean; every single bit of the watch is designed to conquer the deep blues and enhance the submerged experience of the avid diver. An interesting Panerai anecdote is that these watches were primarily created for the Italian Navy during the 2nd World War. The marine commandoes rode in tiny submarines and carried out covert missions to plant bombs on enemy vessels.
This consequently meant that Panerai watches were built for the harsh, wartime environment and had to be robust. They also had to be extremely legible in order to be of any use to the soldiers who used them, since these covert missions were carried out only when the night sky was pitch dark.

Panerai Watch Collections
Panerai Watches present Panerai Radiomir – The flagship masterpiece.
Steeped in world history, the Panerai Radiomir never needed to do much else to cement its position for the generations to come. The watch would always be synonymous with the Italian heroes of the ‘Human Torpedo’ fame from the Second World War. In classic Panerai fashion, however, Panerai watches went out of their way to ensure that the Panerai Radiomir was further still cemented in the hearts and minds of watch lovers and history enthusiasts alike…they re-invented the Radiomir.
The Panerai Radiomir is reincarnated in the Panerai Radiomir 3 day Acciaio. With the powerful beating heart that is the P.6000 caliber, this classic breathes anew in this new rendition. It features beautifully polished lugs with polished calf-skin straps that accentuate a modern yet unmistakable retro feel to this legend.
The luminescence of the dial on the Radiomir is absolutely breathtaking. Since the watch was originally created for combat navy officers who had to carry out their missions in the pitch darkness of the night, legibility was everything. This watch continues to offer super bright legibility and a totally new standard to how reliable your watch should be, conditions notwithstanding.
A counterpart of the Radiomir 3day Acciaio is also available. This is aptly named the Panerai Radiomir Black Seal Logo 3 day Acciaio and like its counterparts, runs on the P.6000 caliber.
Panerai Watches present Panerai Luminor – Illuminating the path of horological innovation.
Billed ‘the essence of Panerai’, the Panerai Luminor collection is a modern take to the Panerai phenomenon. This modern vibe is consistent throughout the timepiece right from the complications to the bezel and straps. The Panerai Luminor captures perfectly Panerai’s commitment to staying ahead of the curve.
The technical marvel that is the Panerai Luminor
The Panerai Luminor continues to dazzle in its performance and look as well. Its heart is the remarkable in-house P.9010 caliber, developed and executed entirely by Panerai. A treat to all the cog-heads out there is the see-through sapphire crystal at the back of the case that lets you see the detailed movements of all the 200 components that power this amazing timepiece.
In order to see to it that this watch is absolutely accurate, its balance wheel is made up of a special metal alloy, Glucydur, which has a very low coefficient of thermal expansion. This ensures that the balance wheel remains relatively unchanged despite changes in temperature, which may otherwise have affected the accuracy of your watch.
An Incabloc Anti-Shock wave device is also fitted in this watch. A spring-loaded system protects the delicate pivots from the damage of physical shock, that is, in the event that you drop your watch. The system works by encasing the relevant jewels and holding them firmly in place. This feature would have been incredibly critical for the watch given the conditions that the Italian commandoes would have had to use them in.
Panerai Luminor Due – The best in a smaller package
The Panerai brand has been synonymous with large, stocky watches. As a slight break from this tradition (and much to the relief of enthusiasts with slightly smaller wrists), Panerai introduces the Panerai Luminor Due collection. From the usual 44mm to even 47mm watches, Panerai Luminor Due collection now features 38mm watches and less!
The Luminor Lab-ID Carbotech 49mm- The watch with a 50 Year guarantee
This watch from the Panerai stable is one of the most technically advanced watches ever made, and one of its most unique features is that there are no lubricants or oils of any kind in any of the watch’s movements. And in spite of this fact, still comes with a 50-year guarantee!
First off, the watch dial is made of a material known as Vantablack and is the blackest known material on earth. The basic structure of this material is that it is basically a bunch of vertical carbon nanotubes which give it its distinct ‘blackness’. This orientation of nanotubes absorbs up to 99% of all the light that hits it rendering the watch spectacularly clear, especially in contrast to the SuperluminovaTM used to create the numerals! Stunning contrast!
The lubrication on the movements is made possible by the use of a special tantalum-based ceramic which contains a high percentage of carbon molecules that slip and slide against themselves. This makes for a safe, sustainable, self-maintaining lubrication system for the movements of the watch! Luminor Marina 1950 America’s Cup 3Days- Icon of the Auld Mug
The America’s Cup is a world famous yacht racing event whose raison d’etre resembles the one that the entire Panerai watches brand is founded on; the marine front. It only seems natural that the Panerai movement honors this global event with a timepiece that will always be a reminder of what these two global movements represent.
This watch features the outstanding P.9010 caliber, entirely developed by Panerai. This is a 31 jewel caliber that guarantees top-notch performance and is protected by the Inabloc Anti-Shockwave device and a Glucydur TM balance wheel. The polished steel case is paired beautifully with a standard strap that sports a distinct red and blue stitch to give the watch that unmistakable American identity. The black dial with the small seconds’ functionality featured prominently at the 9 o’clock position, is marked with large, legible sans-serif Arabic numerals, which the watch wearer will truly appreciate.
Despite an overwhelming American identity that this watch exhibits, classic features that promptly bring to mind Panerai’s Italian patronage still feature prominently. The unique crown-protect mechanism is one such feature. This feature is still prominently incorporated into the Luminor Marina 1950 Softbank Team Japan watch. The distinct badge on this one from its American counterpart is the red and white stitching along the edges of the strap that represent the dominant colors that are synonymous with the Land of the Rising Sun.
Luminor 1950 Regatta Oracle Team USA – A befitting tribute to the sailors of the world
The Luminor 1950 Regatta Oracle Team USA is another monument to the art and sport of fast sailing. Just like its Marina counterpart, this watch was created in honor of the men and women who continue to keep the spirit of the ocean alive trough competitive sailing. This is the spirit of Officine Panerai.
The Luminor 1950 Regatta Oracle Team USA, however, has an additional feature that makes it stand out from the Marina. It features a complication known as the regatta that that is often used at the beginning of the yacht races. This functionality enables sailing enthusiasts to perform a countdown to the beginning of yacht racing events known as Regattas. There couldn’t be a better tribute to demonstrate unwavering appreciation for the sport.
Technically, the regatta functionality adds the total count of moving parts in this complication to 328 components. It features the upgraded P.9010/R automatic mechanical caliber with a 3-day power reserve for optimal reliability.
Luminor 1950 Tourbillon GMT Titanio- the Panerai skeleton in your closet
The P.2005/T is the first tourbillon caliber developed by Panerai and is a rare Panerai creation at only 150 pieces in existence. It is the beating heart of the Luminor 1950 Tourbillon GMT Titanio from Panerai. The 47mm brushed Titanium case renders this watch a staggering 35% lighter than its brass counterparts, making it truly stand out as an engineering marvel from Panerai.
As if that is not enough to knock any competition out of the ballpark, the Luminor 1950 Tourbillon GMT Titanio features a see-through Sapphire crystal at the back that makes it possible to admire the unique serial arrangement of the three spring-barrels, a patented Panerai watches innovation. This arrangement adds an extra 3 days to the power reserve of this watch.
The tourbillon cage is also designed to rotate perpendicular to the balance wheel as opposed to parallel to it. This greatly reduces the effects of gravity on the watch and therefore its accuracy over time. The tourbillon also makes a rotation in half the time where prior to the advent of this watch it took an entire minute.
Panerai Watches present Panerai Submersible – Professional divers’ watch for the 21st Century
Panerai relives the glory of its past through the Panerai Submersible collection. In staying true to the Panerai tradition, the Panerai Submersible features 30 bar water-resistance that enables divers to go further and deeper for much longer, resting assured in the reliability of their Panerai.
There is a slight difference from the Luminor Submersible 1950 3 day Automatic Bronzo whose case develops a unique patina over time. It is the choice of cases, which for the Submersibles, remain relatively unchanged due to the choice of material such as Carbotech and Titanium. A notable member of this collection is the Luminor Submersible 1950 Amagnetic which is built to withstand magnetic fields of up to 8 times the required magnetic threshold for a watch of its standard. It is also important to note that this feat has been achieved while reducing the overall thickness of the case.
The Submersible collection also features the unique unidirectional rotating bezel that prevents any physical shocks from misreporting the lengths of dives. Each click is a part of the graduated scale that contributes to the accuracy and utility of the divers’ watches in this collection. Alongside the improved water resistance of up to 30 bar, the Panerai Submersible collection also features clear, fluorescent markers on the dial that render the watches useful in any condition, including the dark and difficult ones. The Panerai Watches history – The design that stood the test of time
More often than not, watches that have been designed for a singular purpose such as the Panerai Radiomir often get reincarnated as design icons in later years. Panerai is no different. The Panerai Radiomir has maintained its unique design from the first half of the last century and remains one of the most iconic and recognizable designs of all time.
The Panerai Radiomir 47mm keeps the classic Panerai Radiomir design but is powered by the remarkable Panerai caliber P.6000. This is in line with Panerai’s successful attempt at striking the balance between an evolving demand for performance watches, and traditional heritage.
Still on traditional heritage, Panerai watches honors Chinese symbolism with the Luminor Sealand 44mm which is a Limited Edition featuring the ancient Chinese Zodiac. All engravings on this beautiful masterpiece have been done by hand using the ancient ‘Sparsello’ technique and inlayed with gold threads. This speaks to the craftsmanship and the effort that Panerai has always employed to ensure that only the best comes out of the Panerai stable.
The ground-breaking Panerai P.6000 caliber.
The Panerai watches team did not simply rely on old glory to determine the future of their illustrious company. They demonstrated their ability to adapt by launching their critically acclaimed Panerai P.6000 caliber which powers most of the top of the range bestsellers, including the Radiomir 3day Acciaio 47mm. This uniquely Panerai watches innovation is a hand-wound movement that has a power reserve of 3 days. This caliber is an improvement of the Unitas 6497 movement that was used in earlier models of Panerai.
The P.6000 caliber ensures that any Panerai watch bearing it is suited for everyday use, despite it not being automatic. A three-day power reserve sees to it that manually winding the watch would not be a task for the wearers.
A hacking seconds feature is also a standard for this caliber movement. This enables the wearer of the Panerai watch to set their watch with exactitude to the second. You would be able to even set your watch by the atomic clock. The good rate stability and sturdiness that this new Panerai caliber embodies seals Panerai’s position in horology’s hall of fame now and in the future.

The Crown Guard- Panerai’s defining feature.
The most recognizable feature of Panerai watches is the crown guard. This feature attaches to the case and leverages against it to press the crown down or release it, instantly allowing the wearer to work the crown or to render the watch water resistant as the case may be. The lever would easily be spotted by the wearer before embarking on an underwater mission (for the Submersible), and as such one would not accidentally risk damaging their watch.
The crown guard adds to the sturdy look and feel of the watch that Panerai intended to incorporate into the design of this functional watch.
